First published in 1834, this copy a 1854 reprint. 488 pp of hymns, plus 172 pp of liturgy. Words to 700 hymns. Bound in full calf; black leather title label on spine, with gilt lettering. Binding solid, hinges sound. Moderate edge wear; shallow loss of leather at head of spine. Insect damage to leather on rear joint (back edge of spine). Endpaper & blank preliminary pages foed & lightly soiled. Verse written on fly page. Interior pages quite clean, bright and umarked; with only light scattered foxing. Appearance much better than would seem from description. 30361

Appear to be the first American Baptist hymnal (Hymnal of the Baptist denomination --General Six-Principle Baptists). Words to 369 hymns. 304 pp. bound in full calf; black leather title label on spine with gilt lettering. solid binding; hinges sound. Moderate rubbing to leather on edges, spine. Name faintly written on front endpaper; rear free endpaper absent. Fixed rear endpaper shows numbers written in pencil. Moderate foxing on endpapers, first few pages and last few pages. Interior pages show light foxing in margins. Text very bright and legible. Scarce book quite well-preserved. Only 4 library holdings listed in worldcat. 30360
