Photo of Steamer Metropolitan (in use in 1900) and drawing of a Hand Engine. Very scarce, only one copy listed on worldcat. Well-preserved book, firmly bound. Clean cover, color slightly uneven, bright gilt; light wear extremities. Interior clean, unmarked. Blank flypages browned. Sub-titled: From Reorganization in 1850 to 1900; also The Sketch of the Organization from the beginning of the Fire Department in 1768, to its relinquishment of its name of Washington Engine Co., No. 1, for that of Niagara Engine Co. No. 1. Contents are quite interesting, including establishment of the Company, narratives of fire events, stories of comaraderie and mutual aid; squabbles and competition between fire companies; 50th anniversary celebration menu.
