Book has been primitively rebound, very poorly, but tightly, hand sewn with thick thread; brown cloth tape on spine. Preliminary pages missing. Title page through Finis page (203) present. Last page has The War-Song of the Nootka Tribe. Edges of pages chipped, some tears; although text unaffected. Insect damage on first few pages, including title. Some foxing and soil, but quite readable. No engravings. The narrative describes Jewitt's 28 months as captive of the Nootka people in Pacific Northwest Canada.
