Bound in tan (greenish cast) cloth; white, gray, black & red design on cover. Top edge gilt. Color frontispiece with tissue guard. 10 additional full-page black & white plates. Same date on title and copyright pages, signifying first edition. Front cover illustration bright, some wear on white portions. Light soil; moderate wear at spine ends, head of spine has shallow fraying & small nick in cloth; corner tips soft. Solid binding; some chipping of front free endpaper at hinge . Interior clean, unmarked. All illustrations bright & intact. Stories included Firelight, Gaslight, Moonlight, Lovelight, Homelight, Sunshine, Starlight, Afterglow, Rain-Clouds, Storm Clouds, Sunset. Packaged with care and shipped in a box. Maud Ballington Booth married Ballington Booth in England in 1886 and the next year -- under father-in-law General William Booth's orders -- they sailed to America to start the Salvation Army organization in New York City. After conflicts with General Booth, the couple left the Salvation Army and established a new relief organization -- Volunteers of America -- still in operation today. ; Bound in tan (greenish cast) cloth; white, gray, black & red design on cover.
