First written in 1943 (but not published til 1997) on board the HMS Carnarvon Castle, an armed British merchant cruiser, of which Michael Richey was then assistant navigator, on patrol in the South Atlantic, near the Falkland Islands. Scarce, only one copy listed in WorldCat. Richey was an avid competitive sailor who at the age of 80 achieved an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest man who crossed the Atlantic as a solo sailor. Richey participated in unbroken succession from 1968 to 1996 at the OSTAR regattas --- in eight appearances with his small yacht Jester, Richey is still (as of 2016) the sailor with the second most competition participation (from wickipedia). This lovely Signed/Limited Edition has been carefully preserved in the publisher's envelope with velcro closure and another of Richey's woodcuts in green. A clean, bright lovely book with no visible flaws. Envelope shows slight soil. ; Signed by Author 29224
